WEIMAN/PREVIEW MAKES VEGAS DEBUT

Weiman/Preview comes to Las Vegas ready to roll.

Contemporary’s best new sofas, chairs, sectionals,
occasional and accessories will be shown in
World Market Center B-346.

Trend-setting contemporary home fashion in Las Vegas this January begins at the all-new Weiman/Preview showroom (B-346). Wanting to make a statement at its first Las Vegas showing, the company leads off with collections from Vladimir Kagan that include both upholstery and occasional tables. Sophisticated coordinating accessories complete the look. As usual, Weiman/Preview will be a top Las Vegas Market destination for all contemporary aficionados.

Neutral-colored fabrics on new frames in the Las Vegas showroom provide an ideal backdrop for 50 new accent fabrics being added to the line in January. Dressy, showy and boldly patterned, these fabrics work together well on pillows, welting and other accents.

Jim Calhoun, Weiman/Preview’s Vice President of Merchandising, says retailers and interior designers actually prefer to see neutral covers when they shop the Weiman/Preview line.

“Our customers know which fabrics they need on the frames, so we keep the covers fairly neutral,” Calhoun says. “Designers come to us for the architecture of a piece, then select the fabric application that is best for their retail floor.”

New designs in Las Vegas are “frames retailers and designers can really sell,” Calhoun says. “Our introductions are creative designs that will appeal to the broad contemporary audience. True to the brand’s heritage, the form of each piece is carefully considered. Our intent is to make contemporary furnishings more accessible.”

With its curved front rail that mirrors the shape of its arched back, Weiman/Preview’s new Crescendo sofa’s sculptural lines can be appreciated from every angle. The 94-inch sofa is also a wonderful example of contemporary’s retro mood. “It’s something you might see on a 1950s-era talk show set,” Calhoun says, “yet details and comfort bring it into the 21 st Century.” A matching chair will also be shown.

Gleaming, sleek and endowed with all the right curves: New designs from Vladimir Kagan for Weiman/Preview Furniture burst onto the Las Vegas scene with an importance properly due a world-famous furniture designer whose work has dazzled for decades.

Cirrus , a curvaceous collection of sofas, chairs and sectionals, is available in 32 pieces, including armless chairs or chairs with one or two arms. A tight seat and rolled back are classic Kagan, whose look the New York Times describes as “James Bond Meets the Jetsons.” Loose pillows in fashion-forward colors and patterns complement the Cirrus sectional and sofa.

Niche , another Kagan exclusive, is relaxed styling at its contemporary best. Designed to adapt well to room size and configuration needs, a sofa, chair and satellite lounge work well nestled together or apart. Complementary curves allow the sofa and lounge to “connect” at almost any angle. The curvy Niche glass and iron coffee table completes the group.

Kagan’s early years as a sculptor and student of architecture show through in other new occasional tables for Weiman/Preview. The fluid angles of his Raffles group of glass-topped tables create an interesting mix of materials. Humble birch slats rest on elegant burl veneers bases. Chunky and geometric, the Newport group has the beautiful proportions and special little touches that make it a signature Kagan design. The Riviera group rounds out the offering.
